Paint protection
Ceramic Coating in Charlotte
A semi-permanent protective layer that bonds to the clear coat, making the surface easier to clean and more resistant to chemical staining and UV dulling.

What a coating does
- Creates a slick, hydrophobic surface so dirt and pollen release with far less effort
- Resists chemical etching from bird droppings, sap and industrial fallout better than wax
- Adds UV stability, slowing the fade that hits red and black paint hardest in the Carolina sun
- Increases gloss and depth, particularly over corrected paint
- Lasts years rather than weeks with proper maintenance
What a coating does not do
A coating is not armor. It will not stop rock chips, will not prevent scratches from a brush car wash, and will not eliminate the need to wash — it makes washing easier and safer, which is a different claim.
It also cannot fix what is underneath. Applying a coating over swirled paint locks the swirls in under a durable layer, so correction comes first if the finish matters to you.
Preparation is most of the job
Roughly 80% of coating labor is preparation. Anyone quoting a coating as a two-hour job is skipping prep, and the coating will fail early.
- 1Safe hand wash and wheel cleaning
- 2Iron and tar decontamination
- 3Clay treatment to shear off remaining bonded contamination
- 4Paint correction to the agreed level
- 5Panel wipe with a dedicated prep solution so nothing sits between coating and clear coat
- 6Coating applied panel by panel, leveled at the correct flash time
- 7Controlled cure time before the vehicle sees water

Curing outdoors in the Charlotte climate
Coatings need dry conditions during application and an initial cure window afterward — commonly 12 to 24 hours without rain, and longer for full hardness. Humidity affects flash and leveling times, which is why coating appointments in July behave differently than in October.
For a mobile coating install, garage access is strongly preferred. If you park outside, we plan around the forecast and may recommend a durable sealant instead if a clear window is not available.
Living with a coated vehicle
- Wash every one to two weeks using a pH-neutral soap and the two-bucket method
- Avoid brush tunnels entirely — they mar the coating surface just as they mar clear coat
- Remove bird droppings and sap promptly; coatings buy time, not immunity
- Use a compatible topper periodically to refresh beading — see maintenance detailing
