Tesla & EV Detailing in Charlotte

EVs change three things for a detailer: the paint is often softer, the interior materials are different, and there are high-voltage areas that water does not go near.

Tesla paint specifics

Tesla factory paint is widely regarded as soft and thin relative to legacy manufacturers, which cuts both ways. It marks easily from poor washing — one automatic brush wash will visibly swirl a black Model 3 — but it also corrects with relatively light polishing.

Because the clear is thin, we are conservative: measured passes, careful edge work, and a strong recommendation to protect afterward so correction is a one-time job rather than an annual one. See paint correction and ceramic coating.

EV-specific handling

  • No pressurized water at the charge port, and the port stays closed throughout
  • Frunk seals and drain channels cleaned but not flooded
  • Aero wheel covers removed and cleaned behind rather than washed in place
  • Underbody panels left intact — EV undertrays are structural aero, not splash guards
  • Screens cleaned with dedicated dry-then-damp method, never sprayed directly

Interior materials

Tesla's synthetic leather and the white interior in particular need pH-appropriate cleaning and prompt attention to dye transfer from denim, which is the most common complaint we see. White seats respond well if treated within weeks and stubbornly if left a year.

Glass roofs collect interior haze from off-gassing plastics plus exterior pollen film. They get cleaned both sides and, on coated cars, treated so rain sheets off instead of spotting.

Charging and appointment logistics

We do not need to plug anything in. Appointments happen at your home or workplace, and the vehicle can remain plugged in on a home charger while we work on the interior, as long as the port area stays dry.

Charlotte's pollen season is the strongest argument for coating an EV: coated paint releases pollen film in a rinse, uncoated paint holds it and needs contact washing, which is what causes the swirls in the first place.
